Alexey Prokhorovich Voloshin takingl participation in the fighting on the fronts of the great Patriotic war since February 1942. For the war was wounded five times. He fought in the South-Western front, during the battle of Stalingrad, he commanded a battery in the 10th infantry division of the NKVD. Fought at Kursk, crossed the Dnieper, and fought with the Nazis in the Ukraine.
In September 1943, in the Gomel region his battery was one of the first crossed the Dnieper, repelled several violent attacks on the beachhead, destroyed 11 tanks.
by the decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR on 16 October 1943 Voloshin Alexey Prohorovich awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union and the order of Lenin and medal “gold Star” (No. 2429).
in the Autumn of 1944, there was another significant event in the life of a hero at the front. The President of the USA Franklin Roosevelt decided to award the highest military officer’s award of his country – the Silver Star – the four Soviet Junior officers who distinguished themselves in battle against the fascist invaders, and was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union. In October, in the Sverdlov hall of the Kremlin the “Silver Star” Soviet officers was presented by the representative of the American President Hopkins, Ambassador Harriman.
24 June 1945, Alexey Prokhorovich participated in the historic Victory Parade on red square, was the standard bearer of the main calculation the Artillery Academy.
After the war he continued his military service until 1975.
