The famous Italian journalist, publicist, political and public figure Giulietto Chiesa died last night from a heart attack. This information was confirmed by TASS on Sunday, his wife Fiammetta Cucurnia. On 4 September journalist, former MEP, told Italian media in Russia would have turned 80 years old.
Chiesa was well known in Russia, where in different years was represented by leading publications. At first he worked as a correspondent for L'Unita, then newspaper La Stampa and several television channels. Chiesa has witnessed the painful events associated with the collapse of the Soviet Union. He asked pointed questions on a press-conferences representatives of the then leadership. He had a friendship with first and last President of the USSR Mikhail Gorbachev, which Chiesa repeatedly interviewed. The journalist was often in Russia and was considered one of the most respected experts in the field of policy of modern Russia and the situation in the country.
