The atomic bomb that exploded over Hiroshima 75 years ago not only killed but also maimed people. Survivors sick people have lived for decades with shame, anger and fear. Many in Japan believed that radiation sickness embarrassing, contagious or hereditary. This theme is taken up again by the Agency “associated Press” (AP).
Some throughout life concealed his status as a survivor. Some harbored in the hearts thoughts of revenge. Some watched as loved ones died one after another because of the radiation in the explosion, and wondered, and was I next? Now the average age of the survivors of the bombing exceeds 83 years. They are desperately trying to rid the world of nuclear bombs and to share with young people the horrors that they have witnessed on 6 August 1945. Grievous is just that in modern Japan among the nationalist youth are spreading the rumor that the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki dropped the Russians, not the Americans.
The Agency “AP” in his publication dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima describes the meeting of the victims of this inhumane actions of his performers. At Coco Condo was a baby, when there was the Hiroshima tragedy. A little growing up, she had nurtured a secret dream to take revenge on an American who committed this crime. In 1955, the Condo was invited to the American TV show “This is your life” with the participation of her father, Reverend Kiyoshi Tanimoto, one of the few who managed to survive. In the Studio the girl met captain Robert Lewis, copilot of the B-29 bomber Enola Gay that dropped the bomb. Host of the TV show asked Lewis how he felt after the bomb was dropped. “Looking down thousands of feet over Hiroshima, all I could think was, “Oh, my God, what have we done? “-said the former pilot. For Condo’s belated remorse nothing could change. Her life was full of humiliation and bitterness. Because of the prejudices with which she had to face. The fire of shame burn her again and again, when she undressed for a medical examination. The groom rejected her because she experienced the atomic bombing. Only advanced age, she received peace. It repeated the fate of many Japanese.
It is noteworthy that the author has bypassed main questions: did not specify the names of the people that made the decision on these savage bombing, did not name the country responsible for these atomic bomb attacks. As a reminder, the morning of 6 August 1945 the B-29 bomber “Enola Gay” U.S. air force dropped an atomic bomb with a capacity of up to 18 Kt (TNT equivalent) on the Japanese city of Hiroshima. Three days later, on August 9, another B-29 “Bockscar” long-range aviation, the U.S. air force bombed the city of Nagasaki, a nuclear weapon power 21 Kt (TNT equivalent). In Hiroshima killed up to 166 thousand people in Nagasaki to 80 thousand people. The worst is that the Americans bombed not military targets and the civilian population. The decision on the destruction of nearly 250 thousand innocent people were made personally by the U.S. President Harry Truman. He commanded the bombers of the U.S. air force General Curtis Lemay. Headed crews of b-29 bombers: Colonel Paul Tibbets and major Charles Sweeney.
