Ruelle (49) has chosen a life as a “trad wife”, a full-time housewife and mother. Today she is divorced and shares her bitter experiences on TikTok.

“Trad-Wives” (short for “Traditional Wife”) are women who choose to be full-time housewives, focusing on raising children and leaving their husband to be the main breadwinner. A role model that is currently finding supporters again among young women.

The 49-year-old Ruelle, mother of three children, once decided to do so and today uses TikTok to urgently warn young women about the dangers. She is now divorced and has major financial problems.

In 1995, after getting married, she decided to live as a full-time housewife because she didn’t know any other way, she told the Sun. She did not attend secondary school and had no professional experience. “I wanted it that way without understanding the consequences I now face.”

After 20 years as a housewife and mother, Ruelle divorced in 2016. She then had to enter the job market and started at the bottom of the career ladder. She explained that it was difficult to earn enough money to support her children because she did not have a college degree.

During her marriage, her husband always made her feel guilty when she wanted to spend time with her friends. Today she believes that there is no point in being a “trad wife” anymore. “If you want to be a trad wife, prepare for it,” she warns other women. “I wish I had known then what I know now. Don’t rely on your partner to always provide for you.”

Women should be vigilant and recognize the signs of “financial abuse,” warns Ruelle on TikTok. Alarm bells should ring when the husband takes control of access to important things and control of bank accounts, loans, credit and other accounts.
