If there is an unlikely place to open a café/refreshment bar, it is in the Charlevois hinterland, in the heart of the mountains. And yet, this is where Oui Oui forest bar decided to set up its second address (the first being in Quebec City).

It must be said that it is not a completely wasteland area either, since Territoire Charlevoix is already there, with its architectural refuges, its camping platforms and its beautiful reception area that has become a dining room.

Oui Oui thus serves as a canteen for campers and “glampers”, but also as a place of exceptional beauty where locals or passing tourists can go for a coffee (from the Montreal coffee roaster Jungle), brunch or aperitif. It is important to note that the liquor license was still pending when we visited, at the end of July. The aperitif was therefore taken with lemonade. If the consumption of alcoholic beverages is a prerequisite for your visit, then it is better to call ahead to check if the permit has been delivered.

The base of everything we eat here is the homemade focaccia. It accompanies the antipasti plate, is dipped in warm feta with candied tomatoes or is garnished with fine local ingredients, toast style. It’s simple, effective and delicious.
