(Los Angeles) The family film Wonka, about the fabulous chocolatier of the same name, remained at the top of the North American box office for its fourth weekend in theaters, according to estimates published Sunday by the specialist firm Exhibitor Relations .

Led by Hollywood darling Timothée Chalamet, the fantastic feature film grossed $14.4 million in the United States and Canada between Friday and Sunday.

The film has grossed nearly $165 million domestically since its release and more than $300 million worldwide. “A triumphant result,” according to the specialist magazine Variety.

Wonka narrates the early years of Roald Dahl’s famous character in the novel Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Willy Wonka, always wearing a top hat.

Surrounded in particular by Hugh Grant, surprising as Oompa Loompa, and Rowan Atkinson, Timothée Chalamet brilliantly succeeds the interpretations of Gene Wilder and Johnny Depp.

In second place is the horror film Night Swim from Universal and Blumhouse, which tells the story of a family confronted with a haunted swimming pool in their backyard, with $12 million in its first week of release.

It was followed by Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, an ocean-going superhero feature from Warner Bros., which grossed $10.6 million in its third week in theaters.

In fourth place, the animated film Migration, a comic epic about a family of ducks, the Mallards, heading to Jamaica, which collected $10.3 million in revenue over three days.

The romantic comedy Anyone But You remains in fifth position with $9.5 million for its third week of release.
