We know about Sophie Nélisse’s new English project. The actress landed a role in Whistle, a horror film from Corin Hardy, the British filmmaker behind the box office mega-success The Nun.
The specialized American site Deadline reported the news on Thursday. Whistle will tell the story of a group of misfit high school students who discover a cursed object, an ancient Aztec whistle that, every time a person uses it, summons their future death. The more bodies pile up, the more young people feel the responsibility to study the origins of the macabre whistle, which appears to have triggered a horrific chain of events.
Filming is scheduled to begin in November in Ontario. In addition to Sophie Nélisse, Whistle will star Dafne Keen (Logan), Sky Yang (Rebel Moon), Percy Hynes White (Wednesday) and Nick Frost (Fighting With My Family). This is a Canada-Ireland co-production.
Sophie Nélisse appeared this fall in the credits of Aller simple: Surviver on Noovo. She also plays in Yellowjackets, an American series on the Showtime network, relayed in Quebec by Crave. This winter, she will star in Irena’s Vow, the new feature film by Louise Archambault, which had its world premiere at the last Toronto International Film Festival.
