The government of Yemen has addressed to Russia with a request for assistance to combat the spread of coronavirus COVID-19, the country has already sent Russia a list of required medical equipment and supplies, said to RIA Novosti, the country’s Ambassador to Russia, Ahmed Salem al-Wahayshi.
"I can’t pass up the positions of Russia, who welcomed our initiative on the cease-fire in order to direct all efforts to combat coronavirus pandemic. We sent a list of necessary equipment and medicines. We are waiting for the answer, if any answer is " the Ambassador stated.
A list of requested products includes medical ventilators, defibrillators, protective suits and more than a million respirator type N95 and medical masks.
"After the outbreak of coronavirus, the government of Yemen has taken all measures similar to other countries in accordance with WTO rules. Due to the ongoing conflict figures (the number of infected – ed.) is not accurate," the Ambassador stated.
The Yemeni government so far has confirmed only one case of infection COVID-19.
Earlier, Arab coalition led by Saudi Arabia announced that from April 9 begins a two-week ceasefire in Yemen in response to the UN call for a global truce in the background of the spread of coronavirus.

However, the armistice agreement, which provided for including the withdrawal of forces from the occupied positions, is not executed in full.
