As previously reported, “Rossiyskaya Gazeta, the device is delivered to the bottom of the Mariana trench pennant with the symbol of the 75th anniversary of the Victory. Besides the anniversary of the mission carried photos and video, seabed mapping, studied the environment. The details of how everything happened, opened the General Director of the Foundation for advanced studies Andrey Grigoriev and the General Director of Central design Bureau for marine engineering “Rubin” Igor Villeneuve, where this unit was designed and built.
the Descent was carried out on Board the rescue ship of the Pacific fleet “Fotiy Krylov”. When it first loaded deep-sea bottom station, which had a vessel with a cable connection, and then began the immersion of Autonomous unmanned vehicle (AUV). Planned deep-sea mission, without the time to dive and ascent to the surface was more than three hours.
According to Andrei Grigoriev, this is the first of a planned series of joint experiments CDB “Rubin”, the Pacific fleet and of the advanced research Foundation. He confirmed the correctness of selected developers of complex design solutions.
the Head of “Rubin” Igor Villeneuve in turn explained that their obligations under the project Vityaz “-D” included the full cycle of its establishment: design system, fabrication, and conduct deep-sea testing in remote areas of the Pacific ocean. The solution of these problems in the short time frame that was specified PEF, was a unique experience for young engineers and designers of the St. Petersburg Bureau.
Recall that on the initial stage of the project, we were told in an episode of “RG” (live from the Abyss “RG”, 16.10.2018).
Then in the “Ruby” in conjunction with the PEF was created the Laboratory of marine robotic systems. And created to fulfill a very specific task – the creation of a Maritime mobile robotic complex “Vityaz-D” to perform ultra-deepwater dives and conducting unique scientific studies in deep ocean areas, including areas previously inaccessible to man.
the unit Itself was supposed to appear in January and February 2019, and in the spring planned to spend his factory tests in the area of Kronstadt. Summer – training in the Black sea, and in the fall – testing in the Pacific and work directly in the Mariana trench.
All last fall and winter, no news about this project in open sources was not, and here’s the message-lightning: Russian underwater drone met the Victory Day in the Mariana trench. It’s a novelty and cause for pride?
Vityaz”-D” capable of operating at extreme depths of the oceans. Its name he received in honor of the research vessel “Vityaz”, which for almost two decades was lagman expeditionary fleet of the USSR.
the complex comprises maneuvering the Autonomous unmanned vehicles, deep-sea bottom station and instrument control. Shipborne equipment of the complex provides an information exchange on the vessel carrier with an underwater camera and a ground station in real time on the hydroacoustic channel. The complex consists entirely of components manufactured in Russia.
Maneuvering the device is a permeable design of zero buoyancy, of its power base made of titanium alloys. External contour – of spheroplastics, it compensates for the excess weight of the unit and gives it a streamlined shape. The movement of ANPA provides four main and ten thruster motors.
Vityaz”-D” armed with a sonar, sonar navigation and communication sonars side-viewing, has external video cameras, lighting and special research equipment. All together allows to produce at depths of up to 12 kilometers surveillance and search and bathymetric survey of the area, sampling to study the structure of the upper layer of bottom soil, the sonar survey of the bottom topography and to perform measurements of hydrophysical parameters of the marine environment.
What distinguishes our Vityaz “-D” from devices Kaiko (Japan) and Nereus (USA), created earlier, and already worked in the Mariana trench? New Russian ultra-deep AUV dive operates fully Autonomous. In addition, through the use of the control system of the apparatus elements of artificial intelligence, can avoid obstacles on the course, find a way out of limited space and other intellectual tasks.
But why need mobile AUV deep-sea bottom station? As explained by the curators of the project “Julia,” she plays the role of the underwater base station – a device in standalone mode installs with it on the hydroacoustic channel and adjusts its location. Deep the station is able to broadcast on AUV control commands from the vessel carrier. Housing bottom station, as the body maneuvering of the device, made of titanium alloys and high strength spheroplastics.
In cooperation with the St. Petersburg “ruby” for this project worked with the Institute of GidroMash “Calm”, the State scientific center of Central research Institute of robotics and technical Cybernetics, Institute of marine technology problems far Eastern branch Russian Academy of Sciences and other organizations.
“Project “Vityaz’ -D” – sums up the Director of the advanced research Foundation, Andrei Grigoriev, is a further development of our achievements in the field of creation of deep-sea robotic set, including, without limiting the depth of immersion. And we will continue work in this direction.”
As previously stated, “RG” colleagues Grigorieva and their partners in Rubin, the foreign participants in the project were not invited: “We informed the organizations concerned, where and what we go. That’s enough.”
