Home Alone, 12 Years a Slave and Terminator 2 have been included in the National Film Registry of the United States Library of Congress.

A total of 25 new films have been added to the valuable registry aimed at preserving America’s cinematic heritage.

Among them, we find the cult film Home Alone and 12 Years a Slave, crowned best film at the Oscars in 2014. Terminator 2, Lady and the Tramp, The Nightmare Before Christmas and Apollo 13 are also part of the lot.

The National Film Registry has nearly 900 titles preserved. Selected films must be over 10 years old and of cultural, historical or aesthetic significance.
