Earlier, the Parliament of Belarus justified the use of violence by security forces to disperse protests in Belarus. Mass protests began in Belarus in the presidential election day, 9 August. Later they escalated into clashes with riot police. The protests were caused by a disagreement with the official results of the presidential elections which incumbent President Alexander Lukashenko, according to the CEC, has gained more than 80 percent of the vote.
