The people’s Republic of Donbass, “dying regions without a future”. Such opinion in interview to Ukraine.ru was expressed by the Director of the Institute for peace initiatives and conflict Denis Denisov.
According to him, the trends that are happening now in the DNI and LC, cause very great concern, and in many respects disappointing.
The analyst refers to some “specific indicators” that are “rarely seen”. But they show – “it’s dying regions without a future”. That, he says, “the worst”.
Denisov also drew attention to trends in migration processes, which, in his opinion, are “the best marker of which side of the developing Republic.” Immigration sentiment, as he put it, “crazy and tendencies are the same.”
Very unflattering, the analyst said, and about the political elite of the DPR, noting that “he has the impression that it is lay people who do not understand what to do.”
“we don’t have to wear these rose-colored glasses regarding people’s republics. It is necessary to speak the truth that exists there,” urges expert.
And, with regret, says: “if will be maintained the same political system and same economic situation, these regions if you do not become “black holes” that some development there to watch us do not have.”
I must say that the controversy over whether the DNI and the LC to live and develop independently, as a separate state, the expert community going for a long time. But in this case the forecast is too common with those that predict republics, the Ukrainian economists and politicians – namely, the future of the poorest African countries. And that sooner or later the inhabitants of the DNI and LC will have to recognize the failure of these entities, “based on his own painful experience”.
In Kiev do not get tired to repeat that the chance to return to a normal life in the region will supposedly appear only restore control of the Ukrainian authorities on the territory of Donbass.
Whether such a scenario and that, indeed, most residents of the people’s Republic of “SP” told a well-known sociologist and political analyst Yevhen Kopatko:
first, of course, war. Although the situation in the economy, is also quite painful. But most importantly, is the uncertainty. It is, by and large, creates conditions under which people do not have a clear perspective and vision of its future. This is most depressing.
That is, if we’re talking about disappointment, that the key word here is “uncertainty”. Then war, then economic problems.
Of course, it’s all there. But the spirit of resistance of people who are already the seventh year are under siege and under fire, cannot notyou respect. A different kind of critics I have said many times that, if not for the Donbas, Maidan would come to Russia already.
And, of course, the Donbas has never been a boarder, was not ever on subsidies.
Now he is killed. Kills Ukraine is a fact. But also due to the betrayal of the political and business elite of Donbass. It is clear that it is impossible to row all under one comb. There are many people – among politicians and among businessmen – who, indeed, sincerely for Donbass. One of them, where not for me to judge.
I only want to say that generally prevailed in the history of a unique case. When in Kiev there was a coup and began the events in Ukraine, the elite of Donbass left – for different reasons, for different reasons.
But the people resisted for seven years. Now it is a survival strategy. But people need certainty, we need a clear vision of the future. Then we can talk about the economic recovery and the prospects.
I want to say that if not solved the problem of Donbass, of course, these problems will spread further. But it’s not about Ukraine. Donbass is not looking at Ukraine. Yes, and Kiev does not expect that the Donbass will return, let’s speak frankly.
<a href = "SP": – But if the leaders of the republics as has been said, "laymen", who will solve these problems?
I don’t want to debate, just expressing my point of view. You can, of course, much to criticize. But those who are in the war now, not for me to judge.
There are, indeed, very, very many problems. But I have more questions to the people who make global decisions. Not so long pull. It is dangerous. This will lead to the degradation of economic and social life. So migration is very high.
But it forced circumstances. People of Donbass, I stress, they try to keep their city clean, trying to work in these difficult, harsh conditions.
However – I emphasize – to exploit a lifetime of Donetsk and Luhansk forever impossible. Therefore, we need serious solutions – half-measures will not help.
I want to say again: if Donbass will emerge from the crisis, it will never be subsidized. Historically it has always been one of the largest, cementing the Russian Empire, then Soviet Union regions. Was a powerful industrial center – at the human, intellectual and economic potential.
Killing Donbass, Ukraine, by and large, reduces opportunities, including for Russia. The loss of human life also can follow your example not only demographic, but also the problems associated with the further recovery of the economy. I’d be so designated. Therefore, the restoration of Donbas, it is extremely beneficial.
<a href = "SP": – And some experts believe that the chance for a full development of Donbass will only appear in the part of Ukraine. What do you think about this?
– Does not appear, I think. Because Ukraine itself is degraded. And over the past six years, the fact that the called available.
If radiant, the situation was in Ukraine, then, perhaps, sentiment in the Donbass would have been different. And this is completely untrue, and the realities of political and economic life of the country. The process of decomposition and degradation of Ukraine continues. It will not go away.
in addition, the return of Donbass, they do not return, and cleaning of territories. They need a territory and people they do not need.
<a href = "SP": – Then, where's the exit? Which option do you think really would help the DNI and the LC develop normally?
– Option one – entry into Russia. But it is now unfortunately impossible. Reintegration in Ukraine in such a situation is also unlikely.
So the main thing is, I believe, is the strengthening of the subjectivity of people’s republics.
You can, of course, arbitrarily criticize the present representatives of the Donetsk and Luhansk authorities. But these people are his fate too did not choose. They were forced in certain circumstances to act. I mean, I’m not trying to defend, not justify, just a reminder that people work in extremely difficult conditions.
That is why, in my opinion, we need serious global policy decisions. We need a clear strategy for the Donbas. In particular, the strategy is clear, distinct from Russia.
That’s when it will, when the understanding of where we are going, what we want to in a year, three, five years, then people will get a clear idea of how they see their future. And how should they aspire to it.
That is, there needs to be certainty and strategy regarding Donbass. I repeat: if you correctly decide the economic issues, the potential – even in the current environment – there is that Donbass can help themselves.
Only needs to be political will, strategy and the people who make decisions at the macro level for economic development. Well, and social life from going forward, and people will return to the Donbass.
