Ukrainian courts have taken a decision about the arrest of 18 vessels for a "violation of the right of entering the ports of the Crimea". Kiev intends to declare them wanted and to go to other countries to aid in the enforcement of arrests.

"the Prosecutor of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea (part of the Prosecutor General’s office of Ukraine outside the Crimea – approx. TASS) addresses in court with petitions for the imposition of arrests on vessels that have violated the procedure of entry/exit from/to the occupied Peninsula. At the moment it is seized 18 vessels-violators", – reported a press-service of Prosecutor’s office on Thursday.

"the Prosecutor’s office of autonomy plans to appeal to the Ukrainian Bureau of Interpol to make such ships in the database search and direct requests to foreign States for international legal assistance execution of arrests", – stated in the message.

In Prosecutor’s office reminded that Ukraine in 2014, believes the visits of foreign ships in the ports of the Crimea is a violation of the law.

"vessels under foreign flags at closed seaports at the territory of the Peninsula are classified as actions that undermine Ukraine’s sovereignty and violating the norms of national legislation, which entails criminal liability of shipowners, operators and captains of ships," – said the press service of the Kyiv’s position, arguing that "violate the law mainly vessels under the Russian flag, sometimes of Syria, Egypt, Lebanon, that is, countries with which no international cooperation in this area".
