British foreign Secretary Dominic Raab announced that his country will allocate 160 million pounds to combat coronavirus and overcoming the humanitarian crisis in Yemen. It is noted that even before the pandemic the country experienced the most severe humanitarian crisis in the world: more than 80% of Yemen’s population in need of particular assistance.
According to Raab, a package of British assistance “will be a matter of life and death for thousands of Yemeni people, who are now threatened by coronavirus” – quoted by RIA Novosti. This money will help in the work of four thousand medical centers, will allow you to spend more than 700 thousand medical consultations and provide training 12 thousand health workers.
Earlier official representative of the UN office for humanitarian Affairs Jens Lerche reported that the real number of infections with coronavirus in Yemen may be much higher, and the spread of the pandemic is much more serious than in other countries. The UN representative stressed that the situation in Yemen is critical.
