Peter Qvortrup Geisling has many caps on for the time being.

When he conveys facts in the ‘Doctor’s table’, he must tell, to the smallest children needs to be back in the institution after the passover. As a doctor, he needs to acknowledge and reassure those parents who are uncomfortable doing so.

And as a father, should he even – with the peace of mind in the way – send his 10-year-old daughter Merle back in 3. class.

It has been a difficult waters to navigate in, he admits. And although he has been wrong many times, so the regret he nothing. Although he would speak and react completely different in the day.

Merles parents have always lived after the corona-the truism that you are ‘together separately’. Since they became parents, they were already stopped to be lovers for several years ago, but had kept a warm friendship, which they now wanted to do for a parent-child relationship.

They live, therefore, in each of its apartment, but in the same tower, so that Merle can ‘fizzle back and forth,’ explains the tv doctor, who does not have fixed plans for when he has his daughter with him.

It evolves from day to day. But right now it is especially the mother, Christina Maria Jensen, who is, together with Merle and make sure that hjemmeskole her.

“Christina is a schoolteacher in denmark, and Merle think she is a little strict. She is looking forward to seeing her friends and teachers again,” smiles Peter Qvortrup Geisling.

But they are enjoying themselves with it, says the tv doctor, who predicts that the danes will also look back on this time as a good time, where there was room for a closeness that one would not have in everyday life.

Peter Qvortrup Geisling must, however, wait a little. Right now he’s even busy. In addition to the ‘Doctor’s table’ tones he also appears in the ‘Ultra New’ at regular intervals in order to impart the heavy news to the children. At the same time, he provides news to both ‘TV Avisen’, the radio news and the dr.dk.

“When we’re doing a live-consignments in the wake of the prime minister’s press conferences, we must be well prepared. So that we start at six o’clock in the morning and ends at one of the night. It has to be. It can keep for a certain period of time – when there is a meaning with it.”

When you are so very much in vogue, there is also the big risk of making mistakes. And it recognises the tv-doctor, that he has done.

He has called it ‘hysteria’, when you suddenly had to go to the birthday and cuddle her close. Before gyms were officially shut down, he replied via the dr.en a concerned citizen, that she ‘just had to get moving’.

And as the director of the national board of Health Søren Brostrøm the first time began to talk about banning hugs and kisses, he thought, ‘about you now not just had to relax a bit’.

“But you just have to remember that the health authorities had been in cloud-cuckoo land in three weeks and formed a picture,” says the tv doctor.

“And all of a sudden they go out – from one second to the other – and presents it, they have reached, without the rest of Denmark has been in the process.”

When he answers questions in the ‘Doctor’s table’, he has been based in its experience with the swine flu, bird flu, sars, mers and zikavirus. But the insidious by covid-19 is that facts change all the time, because you learn the new coronavirus to know as it develops, he says.

“It is impossible. No one has hit it clean from the beginning. I could also choose to evaluate at the end. But it can’t use for anything.”

He is on the social media has been accused of being too slow to recognize coronakrisen. To be too subjective and almost assume the role as a political analyst. But the role is his, he thinks.

“If I just refer what the authorities says, so it fits I am not my job. It is important to know when something is colored by the health policy and not sundhedsfaglighed. It is important that you know that Mette Frederiksen, is the sender on the closure of the borders and not the Søren Brostrøm. So I must not just talk the authorities after the mouth,” he says.
