On February 18th, the 15th season of “Let’s Dance” started in the traditional way with an introductory show. After many weeks of sweaty training and entertaining shows, the RTL show arrived today (May 20) at episode 12. High time to nominate a “Dancing Star 2022”! Ex-soccer player Rúrik Gíslason (34) got the coveted title last year. His dance partner Renata Lusin (34) was again in the final today.
Shortly before the last show of this season, the viewers received sad news: due to illness, moderator Daniel Hartwich (43) could not be there today of all days. Jan Köppen (39), who was already gaining experience as a “Let’s Dance” presenter when Daniel Hartwich was suffering from Corona, stepped in for him. “They are not to be forgotten,” said Joachim Llambi (57) today. Was that praise?
Despite the short-term change, the celebrities and professionals were in the best final mood. Today the three couples each showed three dances: a jury dance, a favorite dance and a freestyle. The previous favorite Janin Ullmann (40), who showed a Cha Cha Cha with her dance partner Zsolt Sándor Cseke (34) – for the sake of the jury, was allowed to start. Jorge González (54) made sure that the two trained their weakest dance so far. With success! “Your hip, Chica? Like in Cuba!” he enthused after the performance. 27 points!
Renata Lusin and Mathias Mester (35) danced a rumba to Roxette’s “It Must Have Been Love” and received a visit from juror Motsi Mabuse (41) during training, who encouraged the candidate to dance in his own unique way. There was also prominent support in the audience today: Martin Rütter (51) and Detlef Steves (53) cheered on Mathias. “I have to honestly say that no matter what, you brought out the best in yourself. I’m super proud,” said Motsi. There were 24 points as a reward.
René Casselly (25) and Kathrin Menzinger (33) also showed a Cha Cha Cha and were thus in direct comparison to Janin and Zsolt. The reason: René had “missed” the Cha Cha Cha due to his corona disease and made it up today. Joachim Llambi accompanied the dance couple’s training and was more than satisfied with today’s performance. He awarded ten points! René and Kathrin received 28 altogether.
Before the finalists showed their favorite dances, the “Let’s Dance” candidates who had already been eliminated made their comeback. As usual in previous seasons, they were once again allowed to hover over the dance floor with their partners. An emotional moment for many of them, such as Cheyenne Ochsenknecht (21), who left show 2 despite a good performance.
With their emotional contemporary, Janin and Zsolt got the perfect 30 points for the first time. Reason enough to show the dance again today, after all every point can be decisive in the final. “I managed what I wanted to learn here – letting go,” said Janin. There were 29 points because Joachim Llambi “only” awarded nine.
Mathias’ favorite dance was the paso double to The Final Countdown. Together with Renata he put his foot down on the dance floor and the jury didn’t go unnoticed. There were 25 points last time – and today? “You were so involved in this dance, mega!” Jorge thought, and Motsi even went one better: “Your best dance of the whole season!” The jury rewarded him with 30 points!
René decided on the tango, his absolute favorite dance, which he would also like to dance during the upcoming “Let’s Dance” tour. The fiery performance delighted the jury and the audience even demanded an encore. “Just a dream,” enthused Motsi. “Why didn’t I get up? Because I was speechless. I was speechless how sensational you did it here,” said Joachim Llambi. “These are not ten and not 30 points. In fact, we shouldn’t give a rating in this case.” Big words! In the end, of course, there was the perfect 30 points. Has René secured the title with this performance?
In round three the dancing couples showed freestyles. Janin and Zsolt danced to the theme of burlesque and selected songs from the film of the same name starring Christina Aguilera and Cher. “Sexy, smart, strong, reliable and full of heart” – Janin relied on women’s power and received support from her friends via video message. A special moment for the presenter, who collected another valuable 30 points with her successful performance.
Mathias and Renata showed humor in their last dance. They showed a freestyle with the theme “The Smurfs”, among other things to a cover of “Mambo No. 5”. Have a good time in the studio! “It was just a lot of fun,” said moderator Jan Köppen. “It’s just nice how different the shows are. What makes ‘Let’s Dance’ is that everyone is so special,” said Motsi. The jury awarded 30 points!
René and Kathrin presented themselves completely differently, but just as well. They danced a final show themed freestyle to 2WEI and Marvin Brooks’ “Pushin’ on” and Parson James and Kygo’s “Stole the Show.” The performance was intended to represent her development on “Let’s Dance”. “You guys offered everything a show needs,” said Jorge. “We almost cried here.” Of course there were 30 points again. And that was it, the very last dance of season 15.
“You offered the best performance here by a wide margin,” said Joachim Llambi in conclusion. The juror had already predicted in advance that today’s form would be decisive. So René was his clear favorite – but what did the viewers say?
A long evening was coming to an end. In three rounds, the finalists were able to prove their talent again today. The jury and the audience were enthusiastic about the three candidates. But who can now call themselves “Dancing Star 2022”? René Casselly was slightly ahead on points, but the spectators also had a say.
Third place went to Mathias Mester, second place to Janin Ullmann and first place to René Casselly. He is “Dancing Star 2022”!
GNTM star Alex Mariah Peter rarely speaks about her life as a trans woman. In the “13 Questions” debate format, she now reached her limits and even stopped shooting.
In “Let’s Dance”, Amira Pocher not only moved the audience and the jury to tears with her penultimate performance, but her husband Oliver Pocher was also more emotional than ever. Now the 28-year-old commented on his emotional outburst.
Late-night talk from Berlin: The moderator duo Kim Fisher and Sebastian Fitzek have invited seven guests to the “Riverboat”, but this evening is actually all about singer Alvaro Soler and his gift of transforming established women into giggling girls to transform.
