Classes at Manor Senior High School in Manor, Texas have been canceled for the remainder of the week following the tragic death of a student. The community is grieving the loss of 18-year-old Darrin Loving, who was fatally stabbed in the chest. The suspect, 18-year-old Mac Brown Mbah Mbanwei, has been arrested and charged with murder. He is currently in custody at Travis County Jail with a bond set at $1 million.

According to the Manor Police, the suspect used a kitchen knife as the weapon in this heartbreaking incident. Manor ISD Superintendent, Robert Sormani, expressed deep sadness over the tragedy and emphasized the district’s focus on the mental and emotional well-being of students and staff.

In response to the devastating event, Manor ISD is providing mental health support services to students, staff, and community members at no cost. Superintendent Sormani stressed the importance of ensuring that everyone is emotionally prepared to return to school before classes resume. The district will dedicate the rest of the week to helping individuals through the recovery process.

Manor High School, with a student population of over 2400, is known for its students’ achievements in academics, athletics, and the arts. Superintendent Sormani highlighted the positive accomplishments of the school’s students and expressed his desire for the tragedy not to overshadow their successes.

As the community mourns the loss of Darrin Loving, Manor ISD is planning to hold a vigil in his honor on Friday. The vigil will provide an opportunity for students, staff, and community members to come together, remember Loving, and support one another during this difficult time.
