Japanese Corporation Toshiba has completed its exit from the business of manufacturing laptops, selling a stake in the company Dynabook. It is reported portal The Register.
Toshiba was one of the pioneers in the market of laptops is the first device of this Japanese Corporation was released in 1985. In the late 1990s and the greater part of 2000 years Toshiba was one of the leading manufacturers of personal computers, producing only laptops.
Subsequently, a dominant position in the notebook market took Dell, HP, Apple and Lenovo, so in 2018, Toshiba sold a majority stake of its unit for the production of laptops, another Japanese company — Sharp.
Sharp started to produce laptops under the brand name Dynabook, however, Toshiba retains a 19.9% stake in this company. In August 2020, Toshiba has sold this share Sharp, completing exit from the business of manufacturing laptops.
