Us Senator from new Jersey Democrat Bob Menendez called on the Senate to vote for the introduction of new sanctions against Russia.
He made this statement against the publication of The New York Times, which reported on the alleged involvement of Russia in murder of American soldiers in Afghanistan. This news sparked a flood of questions from lawmakers in Washington, who wanted answers.
Mendes stated on Twitter that if the US President Donald trump "refuses to engage his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin to liability for financing of terrorism against American troops in Afghanistan", Congress needs to re-activate its activities.
"My proposal about sanctions against Russia came out in December, and awaits a vote" he recalled.
