The vulnerability of the LGBT community in a pandemic coronavirus increased, the statement said UN Secretary-General antónio Guterres.
The statement is published on the occasion of the international day against homophobia, celebrated may 17.
"Among the many serious consequences of a pandemic COVID-19 – increased the vulnerability of the LGBT community. Already facing prejudice, attacks and murders simply because of who they are or whom they love, many LGBT individuals are at increased condemnation as a result of the virus, and face new obstacles when trying to obtain medical assistance", – said in a statement.
As pointed out by the Secretary General, there have also been reports that the police abuses its guidelines related COVID-19 to the oppression of the LGBT community and relevant organizations.
The Secretary General said that the development of the pandemic, the UN will continue to pay attention to these and other manifestations of injustice and the need to ensure the protection of all.
