For spreading false information about the coronavirus can be punished only if the defendant was definitely aware that it distributes fakes, according to a review on certain issues of judicial practice, published on the website of the Supreme court.
“Placing the face on the Internet material that contain false information (e.g., video, audio, graphic or text) that you have created yourself or any other person (including so-called repost) can be qualified under article 2071 or 2072 of the criminal code of Russian Federation only in cases when established that the person acted with direct intent, knew that placed them under the guise of reliable information is false, and the goal was to bring this to the attention of other persons”, — stated in the materials of the court.
the court recalled that the responsibility for disseminating such false information comes to articles 207.1 and 207.2 — “Public dissemination of false information about circumstances that threaten the life and safety of citizens.”

It can manifest itself in the use of media, information and telecommunication networking, including instant messengers (WhatsApp, Viber and others) for mass distribution of electronic messages to subscribers of mobile communication, the dissemination of such information by meeting, rally, distribution of leaflets, hanging of posters.
