The people of Russia have identified the most important amendments to the Constitution that affect the social sphere, protection of the sovereignty of the country, the beliefs of the Russians and the political sphere. This is evidenced by opinion poll.
As reported by “the Rambler”, the President of Russia Vladimir Putin proposed to amend the Constitution in his address to the Federal Assembly. A nationwide vote on the amendments was held on April 22, but was postponed because of the pandemic coronavirus.
List of amendments that the people of Russia, who took part in the poll on 19 April, is considered the most important in the social sphere, heads the provision of accessibility and quality of care. She voted 95% of the respondents and unimportant called only 4%.
Next are: the recognition of children the most important priority of Russian state policy (94%), nature protection (93%), the annual indexation of pensions (92%), state responsibility for the protection of workers ‘ rights and minimum wages not less than the subsistence minimum (92%).
Among the amendments concerning the protection of country’s sovereignty, the most important 88% of respondents cited the provision on the protection of state integrity and inviolability of borders of Russia. In the second place, the amendment, enshrining the status of Russia as a state that supports and strengthens international peace and security (86%). Among the important amendments the Russians have called the ban for officials to hold dual citizenship (83%) and the prohibition for judges to open accounts and take deposits outside Russia (81%).
The Russians also noted the importance of securing the status of the Russian language as the language of the constituent people (89%), protection of historical truth and prevention of falsification of history (88%), protecting the institution of marriage as a Union of women and men (83%).
“More than half of Russians believe it is important to remove the limit for hold or have held the position of President of the Russian Federation to participate as a candidate in the next election (64%), versus one in four (27%)”, – stated in the message of the all-Russia centre of studying of public opinion.
Respondents also described the important amendments are: the creation of a single system of public authorities (62%), expanding the powers of the State Duma (51%) and the Council of the Federation (49%).
