CHISINAU, 25 APR – RIA Novosti. The President of Romania Klaus Iohannis in a telephone conversation thanked his U.S. counterpart Donald trump for helping US in the fight against the pandemic coronavirus, reported the press service of the Romanian leader.
Iohannis held on Saturday a phone conversation with trump at the request of the American side.
“the President of Romania expressed his appreciation for the support provided to the United States, in particular, he was referring to the help of the American side in the use of transport aircraft under the aegis of the group of strategic air operations (Strategic Airlift Capability) NATO that brought to Romania the necessary protective equipment for medical staff… Iohannis noted the support from the United States in obtaining by Romania of the equipment for diagnostics of RT-PCR in the framework of the International atomic energy Agency (IAEA), US-funded, as well as assistance in the amount of 800 thousand dollars for Romania designed exclusively to combat the pandemic of the novel coronavirus,” – said in the message published on the website of the Romanian President.
Iohannis noted that one of the priorities of the Romanian authorities is to ensure the availability of equipment and medicines required to combat coronavirus. In this regard, trump has expressed readiness to send to Romania apparatuses for artificial pulmonary ventilation.
