As a water Polo player he won with the national team of the USSR, all that is possible. Two-time Olympic champion, winner of world and European Championships, captain and motor unusual teams fighting to the end the fighters and intellectuals. None of the team was not so much the smartest guys with honors in water Polo. And the most important, most loyal, most respected player remained always Alexander. Young looked at him with open mouths: because they were playing next to a living legend.
I was lucky enough to travel around the world with our team in its heyday. And, of course, the first person after the coach was it Alexander. Sometimes sharp in relation to those who, in his stern view, did not finish, not laid to the last. Boars demanded from players is sometimes impossible to be like him. But always forgiving, ready to give advice and to help any who applied to him. And I remember how the guys looked at each other, when the captain did crossword puzzles. He did it lightning fast – exactly as scored goals or had time to work in defense.
Not often of the greatest athletes make good coaches. But Alexander won with their national teams of the country – both male and female many titles. How will be missed to us Alexander Sasha Kabanov.
