“The perfect celebrity dinner” is back (Sunday, 8:15 p.m. on Vox) and four social media stars are trying their hand at the start in the kitchen, whose names require explanation for older viewers: “Malwanne” is the stage name of the 28-year-old Vanessa Gierszewski. She successfully cooks recipes from Disney films on YouTube (“How does it taste?”). “Papaplatte” aka Kevin Teller is followed by more than a million people when he gambles or lets the camera run in everyday life. “Lara Loft” aka Katharina Trautmann is active on Twitch, sings and lends her voice to characters like Honeymaren from “Frozen II”. Maximilian Kolb aka Max is a food influencer – and is considered a secret favorite.
“The average celebrity dinner viewer is thinking: ‘Hopefully next week there won’t be an influencer special, but a completely normal round with Harald Glöckler or something,’ Kevin fears the reactions. All four are very aware that most people over 50 can do little with the way they earn their money as social media stars: “Influencers are considered human advertising pillars and that’s kind of what we are,” grins Kevin, but Lara says, “It’s 24/7 work.”
Voice actor and streamer Lara Loft opens the round. She “rarely cooks” and is correspondingly excited. “They also call me Lara Lost,” she says self-critically. She checks the temperature of her sauce with the meat thermometer, the water bath is improvised and mum is mocked more than once for helping with the snipping. In the end, there are still a solid 24 points for her menu with ceviche rocoto, sweet potatoes and lemon, flank steak with polenta, potatoes and mushrooms and a chocolate mousse with strawberries, mint and roasted buckwheat.
On day 2, “Malwanne” acts in a much more coordinated way in the kitchen. Your menu, on the other hand: puzzling. Guest Max: “It’s more like poetry slam”. The appetizer: It tastes like a happy goat snuggled up together with parmesan. Main Course: It tastes like a slumbering, drunken ox in a field of potatoes, parsnips and asparagus. The dessert: It tastes like a sweet “quack” hidden deep in the strawberry bush.
Arriving at Vanessa, the guests are more interested in the self-painted pictures of the YouTuber. “I paint oysters all the time and would describe myself as an oyster artist,” says the 28-year-old. Max is more reminded of a female sex organ when he sees it. Lara: “It’s art – female art!” Vanessa earned a proud 27 points for her artistically draped menu.
“Papaplatte” is aware that he is considered the underdog of the round, but wants to surprise his guests: “I’ve never prepared myself so blatantly in my life as for this one,” he admits. His menu: carrot and ginger cream for starters and tiramisu French toast with berry sauce for dessert. The 25-year-old came up with something special for the main course: he serves the “legendary MontanaBlack pasta casserole” – the simple dish from Germany’s most well-known Twitch star “Monte” is a hit on the net with more than a million views. “Originally it’s a bag dish, but I change it up with fresh components,” says Kevin. His priority is clear: “The most important thing is that I like it myself.”
When he cooks, Kevin deliberately stacks low: “Real chefs put their heads together and think, ‘What the fuck is this guy doing right now? Sorry!” he says when he accidentally caramelizes carrots with white sugar instead of brown. However, the guests taste the soup unexpectedly delicious. “I’m really surprised how good it is,” says Vanessa. The 25-year-old can also score with his main course – although the level of difficulty is manageable: “Monte would be proud of him,” laughs Vanessa, “I’ve never had so much fun with a main course”. The atmosphere at the table: exuberant. Kevin is happy: “It’s more like a children’s birthday today!” In the end, the host gets 25 points.
Food influencer Max concludes. The expectations of him: enormous. “Max will exaggerate completely, he will also send a greeting from the kitchen,” suspects Kevin. And indeed: the 25-year-old turns up the heat on his menu (starter: salad, sesame dressing, deep-fried scallops, confit tomatoes, main course: polenta with veal fillet in bacon and king oyster mushrooms, dessert: lemon sorbet and prosecco).
For the starter, however, guests would have appreciated an extra scallop or two on the plate. Vanessa also finds it only “solid”: “Grilled salad is not on my list of favorites now,” she says. The rosemary polenta in the main course doesn’t really kick it either. “Max was our golden boy, the horse we all bet on – and now I don’t know if it was a ten,” she doubts. Kevin is also undecided and would have expected “a little more wow!” from the dessert.
The result: 27 points. So in the end there are two winners with Max and Vanessa. The profit, 10,000 euros, is shared and donated to non-profit organizations. Max spontaneously doubles his winnings. 2nd place goes to Kevin and 3rd place to Lara.
On June 19, some celebrities will be back at home again. This time, social media stars are doing the honors at “The Perfect Celebrity Dinner”. Who are Malwanne, Papaplatte, MAX and Lara Loft?
As a rule, the souvenirs at “Bares für Rares” are objects of desire. This time, however, a sale object became the target of ridicule. An oil painting shows a horse. But what’s so funny about that?
A season finale like a permanent hug: In the last show of the “Sing mein Song” season, the stars reminisced about their experiences in South Africa. In addition to pure dance ecstasy and great feelings, host Johannes Oerding made an embarrassing faux pas.
