The mayor of the city of Zhodino came to meet the protesting workers of BelAZ and promised that riot will leave the city if there is no threat of seizure of administrative buildings. It is reported Tut.by.
“Rambler” wrote that after the end of voting in the presidential elections in cities of Belarus started the mass protests. Today it became known that
workers of the Belarusian automobile plant, one of the largest companies in the country, went on strike.
At the request of the protesters to the plant came the mayor of the city. The protesters said the factory buses for security forces and demanded “clean city riot.” The mayor assured that I will ask about this at the meeting with the chief of police.
“If the forces of the police Department of Zhodzina to ensure public order, I will personally request that the riot police and other forces withdrew from the city,” he said.
The mayor also said that earlier there was a threat of seizure of the Executive Committee, and called it a “planned action” and assured that today at 20.00 will meet with residents of the city.
According to Sputnik of Belarus, at the entrance of the mayor met citizens and also demanded to remove from the city security forces. At the head of the Zhodzina noted that the riot will be gone in half an hour after he will report that there is no threat of seizure of administrative buildings.
Participants of the meeting also invited the mayor to come at eight in the evening to the store “Hippo” and a joint event. The mayor stressed that action should take place in accordance with the law and agreed to visit it. After the head went, the people followed him with shouts: “the Mayor and the people!”, the newspaper notes.
