MOSCOW, 30 Jul – RIA Novosti. The international Committee of the red cross (ICRC) increased its food distribution in the zone of armed conflict in the East of Ukraine, said the representative of the ICRC regional delegation in Moscow Galina Balzarova.

Earlier, foreign Minister of Russia Sergey Lavrov discussed with the head of the ICRC Peter Maurer practical measures to overcome the humanitarian consequences of a pandemic coronavirus. In particular, the sides discussed providing assistance to the civilian population of the South-East of Ukraine and Syria.

She stressed that the situation with COVID-19 has reflected on the work of the organization, especially in the area of armed conflict. Balsam noted that for people living in such areas to the existing risk of adding new serious risk – the spread of the coronavirus. In connection with the restrictive measures against infection of vulnerable groups of citizens have difficulty purchasing food.

And that they had not experienced problems with the products, we are increasing the distribution of products for this period”, – said the representative of the ICRC.

the volunteers of the organization shall take all security measures to comply with social distancing and use of personal protective equipment.
