MOSCOW, 29 Sep — RIA Novosti. The state Hermitage Museum, which in 2019 have been to nearly five million people, became the leader of the ranking of the most visited art museums in Russia according to the newspaper The Art Newspaper Russia.

And if compared to last year, the Hermitage has again retained its leadership, the Russian Museum (2.3 million people) was displaced in ranking by one position, finishing in fourth place.

Completing the top-5 Moscow Multimedia Art Museum (1.9 million people). State Museum of fine arts named after Pushkin (1.4 million people) were on the sixth line.

According to the estimates of the Ministry of culture of Russia, the newspaper notes, the 2019 total for the country recorded more than 155 million Museum visits, including participants in the educational programs and events.

“We hope that the art world will soon recover from the shock associated with the pandemic coronavirus, and gradually return to the figures of prosperous 2019,” — said the chief editor of The Art Newspaper Russia Milena Orlova.
