The city of Sputnik will become one of the most comfortable and modern in the Far East. It is planned to create thematic quarters of the countries of the Asia-Pacific region. This was stated by the head of the Ministry of Regional Development Alexey Chekunkov.
“In no case will the Satellite be what is called a “human”. The Satellite’s goal is to become the most comfortable and modern urban space in the Russian Far East,” RIA Novosti reports Chekunkov’s words. He noted that the Satellite is going to create thematic quarters of the countries of the Asia-Pacific region. “For example: the Japanese quarter, the Chinese quarter, the Korean quarter,” the head of the department said. According to Chekunkov, architects from relevant countries will be invited to design and implement these ideas.
Earlier, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu proposed to build several large cities in Siberia, which will become scientific, industrial and economic centers. They want to make each of them a million-strong city. Later, the Ministry of Regional Development reported that they plan to build a new satellite city 30 kilometers from Vladivostok. It will be designed for 300 thousand residents, the Nation News agency reports. According to the ministry’s estimates, the first stage of construction will cost about 100 billion rubles.
