The continuation of the fratricidal war is fraught with Libya and its people, catastrophic consequences, said the official representative of the foreign Ministry of Russia Maria Zakharova, urging the sides to resume dialogue under the auspices of the UN.

We urge all parties to show responsibility for the fate of their country, immediately to cease hostilities and to resume dialogue under the auspices of the UN on all three tracks of the resolution, the military, political and economic – in accordance with decisions of the International Berlin conference, adopted a resolution to 2510 UN security Council”, – said in a statement on the Ministry website.
She noted that in a televised address the head of the Libyan Parliament Saleh Aquila “contains a number of constructive proposals” for the withdrawal of the Libya crisis, including the creation of a unified government with proportional geographic representation of the three historical regions of the country. It is also proposed to develop a new Constitution, to hold presidential and parliamentary elections.
According to the foreign Ministry, these ideas “could be the basis of political discussions” to resolve the conflict.

Earlier, the Minister of foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Lavrov in response to the statement of the Haftarot said that the current crisis in the settlement process in Libya is not an excuse for unilateral decisions.
Haftar had earlier issued an address in which he called invalid Libyan political agreement, and declared himself head of state. In Moscow said that he was surprised by his statements.
The European Union also believes that the unilateral actions of the commander of the LDF the Haftarot are not conducive to resolving the situation.
