The exhibition “For the Motherland”, dedicated to the heroes of a special military operation, opened on Thursday at the Sochi Winter Theater. The paintings, in addition to the military, depict doctors, volunteers and civilians, the press service of the theater told TASS.
"The opening of the exhibition "For the Motherland"took place on Thursday. The opening day is dedicated to the heroes of SVO. The project of the artist Yvette Key is a series of portraits of heroes who devoted their lives to the struggle for home, family, Homeland,” the press service said.
All paintings are the author’s reading of previously published photographs. In total, the exhibition presents 25 paintings, including portraits of the battalion commander “Somalia” Mikhail Tolstykh (Givi), who died on February 8, 2017, the first head of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) Alexander Zakharchenko, who died as a result of a terrorist attack in 2018, journalist Daria Dugina, who died on August 20, 2022., etc .
The author of the paintings is a member of the Creative Union of Artists of Russia, initiator and curator of children’s and youth exhibitions in the Stavropol Territory, organizer of creative workshops for artists Yvette Key. The artist’s works are exhibited in various museums, as well as in private collections around the world.
"This is my 25th solo exhibition, its premiere took place in Sochi today. I captured stories that really impressed me. The works are not only portraits, but also tell about important events – the referendum, mobilization and others,” Yvette Key told reporters during the opening.
The exhibition will run at the Winter Theater until April 28, 2023.
