He is now regarded as probably the most famous folk rock’n’roller in Germany. But Andreas Gabalier not only makes headlines with his music, but also makes a name for himself with his private life. In September 2019, for example, he shocked everyone when he announced the separation from his longtime girlfriend, presenter Silvia Schneider. The two were considered an absolute dream couple for around six years!

Even if the relationship made things difficult for the musician, he had to cope with far more dramatic farewells in his life. His father († 52) and his sister († 19) took their own lives in 2006 and 2008 respectively. The shock was correspondingly deep for Andreas Gabalier. But above all the death of his sister Elisabeth changed the musician’s life drastically.

Even today, the 37-year-old commemorates his sister with a simple wooden cross in his garden at home. Gabalier explained to the “Bild” newspaper: “I put up a small wooden cross for her in my garden. Here I come to rest and recharge my batteries.” To this day, the musician feels a strong bond with his deceased sister. There is a reason for this!

As Andreas Gabalier revealed to “Bild”, Elisabeth’s death is said to have driven him to music. In his grief nothing helped him more than listening to music – and making music. So it’s no wonder that the folk rock’n’roller is still certain that his sister gives him extra energy when it comes to his career. “Without her death, I would never have become a musician,” says the 37-year-old self-confidently.

The Austrian singer Andreas Gabalier (27) just doesn’t have the time for a serious relationship. “I’m just on the road,” said Gabalier (“I sing a Liad for you”) of “Superillu”. That’s why he’s not looking for a “madl”.
