the ‘Tiger King’, ‘Paradise Hotel’, ‘Westworld’, ‘Love where the crows turn’… the Possibilities for entertainment on the streamingtjenesterne are many.
And all the indications are that the danes grabs them. More and more are seeking toward the many services, when they should get the time to go, while the country is more or less closed down.
It shows a survey by YouGov has made for the B. T. Here is 1.254 danes have been asked whether they the past month have purchased a subscription with Netflix, HBO Nordic, tv2 Play and Viaplay.
And it is surprisingly many who have. 15 percent of the respondents have obtained access to Netflix. Slightly fewer have spent money on subscriptions with HBO Nordic, tv2 Play and Viaplay. Here is the percentage of, respectively, eight, 11, and 10 percent.
across the board is, however, a significant increase, if you ask medieanalytiker Claus Bülow Christensen. And with good reason:
“It’s the first and foremost, that many are bored. There is often a correlation between boredom and tv and streaming, which many use today. The happy in this very critical situation is that we in the mediehistorien never have had so much to choose from before.”
The many options also have created a totally new phenomenon, as coronakrisen now can remedy.
“We have experienced a strange stressfænomen, because you can barely manage to keep up with all the series. In other words, all those that we have heard about, but which we have not had the time to look.”
“Now we have suddenly too much time, and it drives people to pick up on what they have heard about.”
Here it is Netflix, people are looking at, shows the survey. In addition to the 15 percent, who have just signed up as subscriptions, replied the 28 percent that they already had a profile. For comparison, the answered 12, 17 and 17 percent that they already had a subscription to HBO Nordic, tv2 Play and Viaplay.
When it just is Netflix, who is the top scorer, it is of several reasons, explains Claus Bülow Christensen, who also is the founder of the Copenhagen Future TV Conference.
“Netflix is just the widest and the highest. Not enough with that they have the most content, they also have the widest content. Just much, what you care about, you can find it on Netflix. It can pinch at the other.”
“Netflix also have a wide selection of børneindhold. It is more limited in the other services. Here have HBO Nordic also something, but they are not so broad in the range of tv shows and movies.”
But so what, when coronakrisen is driven over, and we can return to our normal everyday lives and habits? Terminate people so that their subscriptions?
“from a simple consideration that it is always the great art to get people to try the product, that is the best way to get them to linger, is my feeling, that many will be stuck,” says medieanalytikeren and adds:
“the Products are relatively cheap. The more realistic scenario is that it will go beyond the cable tv, because people give priority to streamingtjenesterne higher.”
