A cure for the coronavirus vaccine can appear not earlier than a year and a half, said doctor of biological Sciences, chief researcher of the laboratory of bioinformatics of the First MGMU named after I. M. Sechenov Nurbubu moldogazieva in an interview with "the parliamentary newspaper."
According to her, several laboratories are developing the vaccine, but the process is at the experimental stage, which, according to various estimates, will be completed by mid-June. After that, he added, will begin clinical trials of three phases.
"first vaccine test on healthy people and volunteers. The second — on a small cohort of patients, usually several dozen people. The third vaccine is tested on thousands of patients. And the third phase clinical trials of new drugs can be carried out in several centers and in different countries," said moldogazieva.
She stressed that clinical trials can take up to two to three years, however, the coronavirus infection is a world disaster, so the laboratory work at an accelerated pace.
"Presumably, a year and a half it will take to develop the vaccine. The same applies to new drugs", — concluded the interlocutor of the edition.
In Russia registered more than 47 thousand cases of infection with coronavirus, almost 3.5 thousand patients were cured. Authorities urged citizens to comply with all the precautions, in particular to keep distance and wear a medical mask.
