Serena Williams is back after a year break. Starting next week she will try to win her 24th Grand Slam title in Wimbledon. After her double comeback, the US icon now spoke about her condition.
Serena Williams talks about doubts: After 357 days without a tennis match, Serena Williams (40) is back. The US superstar starts next week’s Wimbledon with a wildcard and is currently preparing for Wimbledon at the WTA doubles tournament in Eastbourne alongside Ons Jabeur.
Short, compact, clear
“My body feels great”: In Eastburne, according to “TennisBuzz”, Williams also spoke about her uncertainty before the comeback: “Did I ever doubt that I would return? Absolutely, for sure. It would be a lie if I would say it wasn’t, but now my body feels great.”
US tennis star optimistic before Wimbledon: After the difficult opening win (2: 6, 6: 3, 13:11) against Sara Sorribes Tormo and Marie Bouzková alongside Jabeur, Williams continued: “I definitely felt good, and I spoke to Ons in the first sentence and said, ‘It’s not going badly’. It clicked in training and now it seems to be working. It’s only a doubles, but it means a lot to both of us to be there.”
