Super Bowl LVI will see the Bengals take on the Rams in a matchup.
Los Angeles Rams Coach Sean McVay said Friday that his desire to start a family is a major factor in his decision.
McVay, 36 years old, joked that he wouldn’t make it if he was coaching into his 60s, but moments later, he stressed how important it was to him to have a family. McVay said that he was ready to marry Veronika Khomyn, his fiancee, barring any COVID-19 pandemic related setbacks.
He said that he loves this game so much because it’s so passionate, but he also knows that the support I have received from my closest friends, coaches and players, has convinced me that I will be getting married this summer. I want to start a family, and he believes that being able both to balance work and family life is important. “I’ve always dreamed of being a father, but I don’t know the future. That is what I joke about.
“I don’t really understand. I do know that I love football. I am so involved in this game. I’m right now. However, you will have to ask yourself what you would like to do in the future. I want to be in a position to have a family, and to be able spend time with them.”
McVay said that he was aware of the hardships of growing up. John McVay’s grandfather was a college football coach at Dayton between 1965 and 1972. He was also the head coach of the New York Giants, 1976 to 1978, and the general manager of the San Francisco 49ers, 1983 to 1990, and again in 1998.
McVay stated that his grandpa was a coach and personnel officer. But McVay noted that his dad was not able to get into coaching because he had a great relationship. However, McVay added that his dad didn’t want that for him and that he was not interested in sharing that relationship with Tim. That was something I have always kept in mind and I hope to one day be able to have my own family. That’s why I said that. However, —, I will probably be talking with you when I’m 61 and doing this stuff.”
McVay will look for his first Super Bowl Ring on Sunday night.
