Putin has repeatedly threatened to use nuclear weapons. The spokesman for the Ukrainian military intelligence service is now reporting that the Kremlin is planning to station nuclear weapons in Crimea and Belarus.
The Kremlin’s nuclear threats have been growing ever louder since the start of the Ukraine war. Russian President Vladimir Putin warned the West against interference with unprecedented consequences. The spokesman for the Ukrainian military intelligence service (GUR), Andriy Yusov, has now reported in an interview with the TV channel “Freedom” that Putin plans to station nuclear weapons in Crimea and Belarus.
This is of great importance when assessing the danger of a nuclear strike: “If we are talking today about the danger of a nuclear strike by the Putin regime and Russia, we cannot rule out this moment,” said Yusow. According to Yusow, this development is not a cause for concern.
The spokesman for the Ukrainian military intelligence service explains that Putin has chosen two areas for stationing nuclear weapons: occupied Crimea and Belarus. Belarus has played an important role since the start of the Ukraine war. For months, Putin has been trying to persuade Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko to allow his country to take part in the Ukraine war.
According to Yusov, the Kremlin could organize provocations with nuclear weapons from Crimea and Belarus. The Ukrainian secret service is already assuming why Russia’s arms movements are being closely monitored – so Putin’s actions would not be a surprise.
Still, the deployment of Russian nuclear weapons would not rob Yusov of his sleep. It was expected that the Kremlin’s nuclear threats would continue this year.
In addition, the use of nuclear weapons would also have negative consequences for Putin. “We must understand that this is a threat that only brings the end of modern Russia and the Putin regime closer,” Yusov said.
Thus, even the Kremlin would understand that the use of nuclear weapons would be the final step and would bring down Putin’s regime. Accordingly, the spokesman for the Ukrainian military intelligence service believes that Putin could only be bluffing.

Russia is currently the strongest nuclear power in the world. In recent months, Putin has repeatedly threatened to use nuclear weapons. In October, the Kremlin kept mentioning a “dirty bomb”. Putin’s confidants turned to Western governments to force them to lie that Ukraine intended to use a nuclear weapon on its own territory. Ukraine does not have any nuclear weapons.
