the State will allow the tourist industry to partially cope with financial problems, said the Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on social policy Igor Fomin. The tour operators will allocate 3.5 billion rubles for compensation of losses in connection with the pandemic of coronavirus, reports RIA Novosti.
the Cabinet of Ministers has sent this amount to compensate tour operators associated with non-refundable fares for air travel and the organization of evacuation of tourists from foreign countries. Fomin said that the funds will receive Federal tourism Agency, which will provide subsidies to companies.
the Federal Tourism Agency also mandated to monitor the effective use of money. The report will need to submit before 1 October.
the Association of tour operators of Russia (ATOR) offered to the government to freeze payments to travelers for the cancelled tours until 2022. This decision, as explained in the organization, to help firms avoid bankruptcy and meet its obligations to tourists who have not canceled and rescheduled the trip.
ATOR also requested that foreign tourists, who bought a visa in Russia, but are unable to come, the opportunity to visit the country during the year after the pandemic. The organization drew attention to the fact that 150 thousand of tourists planning to stay in Russia until July, however, due to the closure of the borders, they could not come.
On April 4, Russia has suspended international flights to export Russians to the country, citing the need to contain the spread of coronavirus. However, on 6 April, the traffic was restored. For the return of the Russians will be drawn up a special schedule.
