Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin spoke about the completion of reconstruction works for the public centers of the Yantar and Sofia cinemas. The mayor wrote about this in his Instagram account on Sunday, September 5.
“For several years now, together with the investor, we have been reviving old cinemas, turning them into full-fledged community centers. We have completed the reconstruction, we are preparing for the opening of two at once: “Amber” in the Preobrazhenskoye district and ” Sofia&”in Northern Izmailovo,” he wrote.
According to the mayor, the buildings that were built in the Soviet era were practically rebuilt anew, updating a lot in them. There are modern parking lots and new floors. The mayor added that at the moment ten cinema halls have been organized in” Sofia”.
After the improvement, shops, cafes and restaurants were equipped in the buildings, and a children’s educational club, zones for master classes and games will soon open in Yantar.
Earlier, a photo of the Sovremennik Theater on Chistoprudny Boulevard made Muscovites remember the Colosseum cinema, which used to be located here. One of the users noted that musicians performed in the lobby of the cinema before the sessions. Another user expressed the opinion that the “Colosseum” with concerts of jazz bands should be restored in a historical building instead of the”Contemporary”.
