The mayor of Moscow Sergey Sobyanin laid on Saturday a bouquet of red roses to the monument to Marshal Zhukov on Manezhnaya square and a minute of silence in memory of the fallen during the great Patriotic war. The ceremony was held in honor of the 75th anniversary of the Victory in the great Patriotic war.

The pandemic coronavirus for the first time are unable to participate veterans. Instead they are made by volunteers – activists of the city centre "Mosvolonter," the participants "the Flowers of Victory".

The bronze monument of Marshal of the Soviet Union Georgy Zhukov was erected in 1995 by the decree of the President of Russia Boris Yeltsin for the 50th anniversary of Victory in the great Patriotic war. The authors of the monument – sculptor Vyacheslav Klykov and architect Yuri Grigoriev. The decision to dismantle the monument to Zhukov and conduct the restoration in a workshop was made on 20 March 2020. Work was completed on April 27.
