Simple comme Sylvain, by Monia Chokri, and Testament, by Denys Arcand, will have their Quebec premiere at the 12th Quebec City Film Festival, which will be held from September 13 to 17.
Note that Simple comme Sylvain is the closing film, while the screening of Testament will take place on the sidelines of the festival, on September 29.
The documentary on the housing crisis Ma cité ousted, by Priscillia Piccoli and Laurence Turcotte Fraser, will have its world premiere. Another documentary, Les jours, by Geneviève Dulude-DeCelle, is also programming.
In all, 250 films in 8 venues are on the program for the first festival directed by Hugo Latulippe. Actress and playwright Christine Beaulieu (Norbourg, Le mirage), guest of honor this year, will give a master class, as will artistic director Elisabeth Williams (The Handmaid’s Tale, Fargo) and filmmaker Sophie Dupuis, who will present her film Solo on September 14.
About thirty free screenings are planned at Place D’Youville, including that of C. R. A. Z. Y., by the late Jean-Marc Vallée. We will also pay tribute to him with a presentation of Wild, on September 17, at Le Diamant.
