According to scientists, in the Novosibirsk region the greatest threat to people is the taiga tick and the closely related tick Pavlovsky. They are very similar in appearance, both have peaks of activity in may and June and prefer similar habitat – moist deciduous and mixed forests, valleys of forest rivers and streams. Once mites Pavlovsky was rare, but over the last decade, their number has increased dramatically. And now in some neighborhoods this type is dominant, especially in the forest areas of the Novosibirsk and Tomsk regions.
As suggested by the staff Abihm, a hybrid is formed due to the fact that both species of mites began to coexist in the same area. For the first time about the hybrid became known in 2009.
We found that the hybrid was fertile. For example, a hybrid of donkey and a Mare can’t produce offspring, and mites it is formed and between themselves and with the parent species. Most likely, the reason is that in some of the hybridizations was very successful combination of genes, says Nina Tikunova.
Scientists suggest that this property will contribute to the spread of tick-borne hybrid in the taiga zone. According to Tikunova, it carries all the diseases that both parental species together – the tick-borne encephalitis virus, different types of Borrelia, rickettsiae, Herlihy, ooplasm, as well as of Babesia that affect dogs. That is, people in addition to tick-borne encephalitis virus can be infected from the hybrid of several types of Borelli and rickettsiae.
In different places this mite is found with varying frequency. So, in Novosibirsk Akademgorodok the highest frequency recorded in the Upper area in the region of the Central Siberian Botanical garden SB RAS and territories that are adjacent to it on the part of the river Shadriha.
