Kasia Gallanio, ex-wife of Qatari nobleman Abdelaziz bin Khalifa Al-Thani, has died. Police found her body at her home in Marbella. The circumstances of death are still unclear. Gallanio leaves three daughters.
Kasia Gallanio, former Princess of Qatar, has been found dead at her home in Marbella. This was announced by the Spanish police on Tuesday. Accordingly, the body of the 46-year-old was discovered on Sunday.
Gallanio was the ex-wife of Abdelaziz bin Khalifa Al-Thani, the emirate’s ex-finance and oil minister and uncle of the Qatari emir. Together they have three daughters. According to “El Mundo”, one of the underage girls had informed the Spanish authorities from France after being unable to reach her mother for four days.
The Spanish police officers then gained access to the 46-year-old’s house with the help of the caretaker. There were initially no signs of violence on the body. The authorities therefore ordered an autopsy. According to initial findings, the ex-princess could have died of a drug overdose.
The native American with Polish roots and Al-Thani had fought a bitter custody battle over their children for around ten years. Gallanio accused her ex-husband of sexually abusing her youngest daughter between the ages of nine and 15. The 72-year-old had always denied this and accused his ex-wife of being an alcoholic. As a result, she was also deprived of custody of her daughters. The three girls, twins aged 17 and a 15-year-old, live with their father in a large estate in the heart of Paris.
