UN security Council meeting convened by Estonia showed that the idea of shared responsibility of Germany and the USSR for the outbreak of the Second world war supports a distinct minority, said first zampolpreda of Russia to the UN Dmitry Polyansky.
At the meeting of the UN security Council on Friday, some speakers tried to place the responsibility for the outbreak of the Second world war, not only Nazi Germany but also the Soviet Union, reports RIA “Novosti”.
The meeting was held at the “Arria formula”. It was attended by representatives of 65 countries, about 50 foreign Ministers. Attempt to hold the USSR responsible for the war was taken only a few countries – particularly Ukraine, Poland and some Baltic States. The initiator of the meeting was Estonia.
Polanski thanked Estonia for the initiative, which “demonstrated that those who revere the memory of Nazi collaborators and promote the idea of shared responsibility of Hitler and Stalin for the outbreak of the Second world war and other distortions of history are in the absolute minority”.
