Moscow has no plans to establish a military base in Libya, the relevant requests addressed to the Libyan authorities had not been sent, said the Ambassador of Russia in Egypt Georgy Borisenko.

Earlier the Minister of internal Affairs of the Palestinian national consensus Government of Libya (NTC) Fathi Basaga in an interview with Bloomberg, stated the need to "thwart the plans of Russia to create a base in the Sirte and Dzhufre".

"Russia has no such plans. Any queries with the Russian side to the Libyan authorities on the establishment of any military base, a naval base was not done" – the Ambassador said in the broadcast of the Egyptian TV channel TEN, responding to a question of the presenter.

In June, the Turkish newspaper Yeni Safak, citing military sources reported that Turkey is preparing to establish two permanent bases on the territory of Libya.

Russia plays a significant role in resolving the Libyan crisis, acting as a mediator and trying to maintain relations with all parties to the conflict. Deputy foreign Minister of Russia Mikhail Bogdanov said that Moscow will urge all external players to facilitate a settlement in Libya, a military solution there.
