Plans to increase the number of American troops in Poland is a serious blow to the Founding act Russia-NATO, said the Deputy head of the Department of information and press of the foreign Ministry Alexei Zaitsev.
“we Believe that plans to increase us military presence in Poland, a serious blow to one of the key provisions of the Founding act NATO – Russia 1997, according to which the Alliance has rejected the implementation of additional permanent accommodation on the territory of the member States “substantial combat forces”, – said Zaitsev in comments published on the foreign Ministry website.
He added that increasing the concentration of shock troops of the us military in the so-called “contact line Russia-the NATO”, as well as any reconfiguration of U.S. forces at the Russian borders, “not able, as it is trying to present in Washington, to strengthen security in Europe”
“These actions stimulate the growth of tension on the continent. Repeatedly stressed that attempts to deter and intimidate our country will get a decent and timely response,” – said Zaitsev.
Washington and Warsaw have concluded negotiations on the agreement on enhanced defense cooperation (Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement or EDCA) in which Poland will be allocated an additional 1 thousand American troops.
In the state Duma said that this decision provokes Russia to strengthen military capabilities in this area.
