To Russian speakers in Latvia were treated as “second class”, said the Russian Embassy.
Russian diplomats commented approved by the Saeima in the third reading the draft law on “responsibilities of Latvia to open in kindergartens of national minorities of the group with the Latvian language of training,” according to the Facebook of the Embassy.
As the Embassy stated, the move is “another proof that the attitude of authorities to the Russian-speaking countries as “second class”. The leadership of Latvia considers that the interests of the Russian-speaking population “can be sacrificed in favor of the titular nation” and “Russian children can be asked to “move up” in kindergartens with teaching in their native language,” the Embassy stated.
The diplomats expressed regret at the fact that “children from families of ethnic minorities become hostages of political games are concerned nationalist MPs and their supporters in the struggle for votes”.
Recall, Russia’s permanent representative to the OSCE Alexander Lukashevich urged Latvia to provide a conducive learning process for the representatives of national minorities, which was limited due to the outbreak of coronavirus.
