It was supposed to be a carefree school trip, but it ended tragically. A 17-year-old student died in a swimming accident on Lake Como. The young man had been pulled out of the water and restocking failed
A 17-year-old student from Germany died in a swimming accident on Lake Como at the weekend. The teenager died on Friday evening in the popular lake in northern Italy, as the police in Como confirmed to the German Press Agency on Monday. He was pulled out of the water, but attempts to revive him were unsuccessful.
According to the police, the teenager was on a school trip. After dinner, he and two classmates jumped from the promenade into the lake around 8 p.m. when the teacher apparently wasn’t paying attention. There is a ban on swimming at this point because the lake is deep and there are dangerous currents. In previous years, several mostly young people died in similar accidents.
