After winning the Oscar for best documentary in 2022 for his film Summer of Soul, Ahmir Thompson, alias Questlove, has just unveiled his next project. The director and musician will helm the new live-action version of Disney’s feature film The Aristocats.
“They chose me to hunt the cat,” Questlove wrote on social media, sharing a link to an article from the specialist site Deadline, which first published the news.
In addition to directing the feature film, the one who made his mark in the musical world with the group The Roots will also supervise the music of the film.
The reinvented scenario of this 1970 classic which features a bourgeois family of felines and alley cats was entrusted to Will Gluck (Peter Rabbit) and Keith Bunin (Onward).
In recent years, Disney has recreated many of these films in live action, including Mulan, Dumbo, Aladdin, The Lion King and The Little Mermaid, which will hit theaters this spring.
