MOSCOW, may 4 – RIA Novosti. The priests of the Pskov Archdiocese of Russian Orthodox Church believers to receive communion at home during Bright week, said the Metropolitan of Pskov and Porkhov Tikhon (Shevkunov).
April 19, in the Russian Church met the Easter or Resurrection of Christ. Following the Easter holiday week is called Bright week.
“All Bright week the monks of the Pskov-caves monastery, the priests of the Pskov Archdiocese avoided with all the precautions, our laity and the communion of their home. And what a joy it was: people were crying from happiness. Ill and healthy people understood, that to them Christ came,” – said on Sunday, Metropolitan Tikhon on the air program “Parsuna” on TV channel “Spas”.
Speaking about the sacrament of the sick COVID-19, the Metropolitan said that this issue needs to be addressed with local authorities. “We took two priests, one of them a doctor, and he agreed (with the authorities – ed.) that if they are sick, the priests will come to them in special costumes. It must be done,” concluded the Metropolitan.
Earlier, the Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia Kirill addressed the city authorities with a request to allow priests in a Moscow hospital, to confess and give communion to the sick. It was reported that in Moscow diocese created and trained a group of priests for the care of patients with coronavirus and not patients virus patients of the Moscow hospitals, in which priests are not allowed for health regulations. Also the priests in Moscow can’t get to the people who are treated at home, in quarantine.
